Yeah. [Korra smiles, Rapunzel's words reassuring her.]

I know what you mean. Everyone here's so friendly, it makes it way easier to adjust to all of this.

It makes me glad I left! Even if this is...well, like we said, a detour.

[ but at least everyone here is REALLY not at all like her mother had said... ]

[Still smiling, Korra gives Rapunzel's hand a light tug as she starts walking again, this time leading Rapunzel along.]

I'm glad you're at least having fun. It sounds like there's a lot of things you should try while you're here.

Like the lanterns. Or...lantern, since there's just the one. [Sheepish laugh.]

I've never seen any of them except from really far away - one is amazing!

[ or. will be amazing shortly? granted rapunzel thinks most things are amazing. when you are locked in a tower for eighteen years you kind of really take to anything that is no tin the tower? ]

What other things should I try, though?

[braavado]

I can't think of anything right now, but maybe we could make a list.

[Korra sends her a grin over her shoulder.]

All the things you've ever wanted to do, and we can try to tackle as many of them as we can here.

[coronae]

I'd like that! But...if we make that kind of list, we should add things you want to do, too! It wouldn't be fair to just do all things I want to do, right?

[ she beams at korra. ]

Besides, I think that'd be a great way to think of more things! I want to try everything.

[braavado]

[She brightens at the thought before she can help it. Busy as everything was after she got to Republic City, she hasn't exactly had time to make a checklist either.]

That...would be nice. Things have been pretty hectic back home and all. [She laughs.] All right, I'm in.

[coronae]

Then it's a deal! We can just add things as we think of them. Lantern lighting is number one, so...you can pick number two whenever you think of it, okay?

[ surfing???? something else??? the world is their oyster here. ]

[braavado]

You got it. [Her smile softens.] Thanks--this was supposed to be for you, you know? You didn't have to add me to the list, too.

[Finally, they reach the stairs and begin the climb up to the island.]

[ 10 minus however many tags until rapunzel bursts into song. god. ]

I absolutely had to! I mean...friends...do things like that together, right?

[ haha her only friend is. a chameleon. she's guessing. ]

[braavado]

[A pause, and then another smile.]

Yeah. You're right. That's what friends do together.

[As they finally climb over the last step onto the island, Korra turns her face up toward the sky and breathes in deeply, letting the salty tang of the ocean air soothe her.]

Should we go further in or just sit by the water?

[coronae]

Oh! We can sit by the water. I mean, if you like? I think it's pretty.

[ she wasn't close enough to the ocean to see it up close, what with the whole. tower in the middle of a damn forest thing. she could only ever see it from far away. ]

[braavado]

No complaints here. [Taking the basket of goodies from Rapunzel as she joins her at the top of the stairs, Korra heads for the water.]

This looks like a good spot. [Once the basket's placed securely on the ground, Korra turns back to her, eyeing the lantern a little nervously. It should work--at least, she hopes it does. Craftsmanship isn't exactly her strong point here.] Ready?

Ready!!!

[ she still has no idea how you're lighting that, korra. but rapunzel claps her hands in front of her, looking...well, determined and nervous. ]

A little scared?

[braavado]

Here goes. [Carefully, Korra calls a lick of flame into her hand and lights the wick at the bottom of the lantern. When the whole thing holds together, she beams at Rapunzel.]

Oh! Like with the water!

[ rapunzel clasps her hands together, eyes wide. ]
